Not even money can extend it.  But that might be the only thing the Emiratis can't buy.  They commissioned Zaha Hadid for a bridge and are building a Louvre and a Guggenheim.  And yet Abu Dhabi and I are practically the same age--basically born 50 years ago.  Last year I grossed about $2500.  Must get cracking.

1/8/2015.  I took the kids to a gallery displaying early pieces purchased by the Guggenheim, also slated to open next year.  We stepped inside Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Room, a small dark space with mirrored walls and lights strung over water.  You walk along a tetris-tile shaped path and try to orient yourself as the LEDs change color.  Very Abu Dhabi: on the water, glitzy, theatrical, and lets you feel the bottom but makes you feel uncertainty about where the top is.

Here are two images, the first one is looking up, the second is looking out.

The cover pic is the front of the Manarat al Saadiyat, a museum on Saadiyat Island where you'll find the NYU/AD campus and where Jon gave a stellar talk tonight.  Well, at least most people thought so...
