1/9/2015.  Someone gave us a book of Arabic proverbs yesterday.  This one sounds meaningful but isn't.

For breakfast we had a smoothie made from mango, watermelon, guava, and pomegranate before our scheduled desert safari.  Our driver Munaj introduced himself as a professional dune-crasher.  He took us to Al Khatim, the location for the next Star Wars for its 300 meter dunes.  Munaj explains he will be plowing his LandRover at top speed up and down the smaller dunes.  The ones that are just 60 meters.  Jon goes, "You mean 16 meters?"  "No, sir, I mean 60 meters."  Pause.  "Jayne, the children have their seat belts on, right?"

After the dune-crashing experience, which of course Francesca and I enjoyed the most, we were taken to a campsite attractively set up for a Bedouin style dinner around a few fires.  Before the sun went down our hosts invited Francesca to try on traditional dress and painted henna on her hand.  Max tried to go sandsurfing but the surfboard clips were too large so he just relaxed on the warm sand.

The day was a fantastic finale to our time in the UAE.

Tomorrow morning we fly out to humid wet Singapore.
