2/19/2015. A few days ago Francesca and I were looking at some paintings and sculptures in an Ubud museum.
I asked her why she thought artists made art. She said, "Well, they saw something pretty and had to put it in a picture in case that thing went away."
Our month in Bali is coming to a close. Here are some things I want to remember.
One woman's fresh tray of offerings before making her morning rounds.
My beloved niece Amanda, who taught Keka how to swim--seeing water lilies for the first time.
How humid and moist it was in Ubud.
The front entries of two of my neighbors, above and below.
Cooling off on a 100 degree day.
Gamelan drummers in a rainforest cafe. Listen here.
POST HASN'T TAG.

Jayne! Jayne! Jayne! I totally got choked up looking at these gorgeous photographs. Oh, my goodness. What nirvana you have found yourself in. I know the 100* doesn't translate through the photographs, but from where I sit in snowy, chilly Charlottesville, these photos take my breath away. This photographic journey you have brought us on with you has been AH-MAZ-ING!!! I wish there was some way I could impart this on you. Every morning at breakfast, I swear, Pat and I have a race to see who can check out Follow Jayne faster. And then we are both transported to the far away place you are and we soak it all in. The colors. The textures. The beauty. All as you, my friend, sees it. It. Is. Magical. I cannot even tell you how badly I want to go to Bali now. I've always heard about it and seen lovely pictures of it, but the past couple of weeks have made me a believer in just how other worldly it is. I want to slow down. I want to wander from village to village. I want to drink coconut water in the sweltering 100* heat of the day. Thank you SO much for taking the time and doing this blog. It means the world to me. I miss you -- and yet I feel so connected to you and your big adventure. I cannot wait to see where you take us next! -- With love and gratitude, Jane

Dearest Jayne,
Such a joy to see these images... You're sustaining me, as the days are getting longer and my spirits are (slowly) lifting.
More on that later, but I want you to know that, at least for this devoted reader, this chronicle of your adventures is a great pleasure.
Please keep the posts coming, and know that the journey you're traveling as a family is the greatest of gifts to your children, who will never, ever forget...
(It's a great joy to Amanda, too. I hope things are going better in that regard.)
Please remind me of your schedule going forward....
Sending each of you so much love,
Rebecca

Brilliant, Keka! That's it exactly. We all try to make permanent/hold onto those things in this Universe which are impermanent! She has it all figured out. Thank you for sharing these gorgeous, ever-changing things, Jayne. I hope you are already finding ways to keep your blog going even after you come home.
